What is the best setup for an 1885. It will be wearing a VXII 6x18x40mm

I have not done it yet, but I plan on drilling a tapping into the barrel for the front and rear Weaver mount. I will use the closest radius mount to match the barrel.

Sometimes I mount a Weaver mount in a vise and mill out the bottom with a fly cutter to change the radius. I got that from Steve Acker at Home Shop Machinist.

The top of the receiver is so short, I will leave it alone.

bases from a browning 78 are the same I have leupold bases and rings on mine

i've got several and the leupold bases and rings are all the same for them. they look a he-- of alot better than do the weavers too
