Any good ideas on bedding an Encore forarm. Ive heard a little about the oring or the washer trick, but still a little unclear on how to do this.I am new to the Encores but have bedded many M700s over the years. Thank for the Help

jeffro, I can only tell you what worked for me. The area that should come in contact with the barrel is immediately around the two screws which attach the forend to the barrel. Now this flies in the face of reason to many accustomed to bedding a full stock rifle, but this is an Encore. See the first sentence above. First I sanded the area of the forend which comes in contact with the underside of the barrel, making certain there were no high spots. I then counterbored a hole about 1/2" (dimension is from memory, check for depth before drilling) deep centered on each of the screw holes. The diameter of this hole was equal to a piece of an plastic ramrod I had for my flintlock (high tech here). I cut the ramrod sections to length so they would protrude about 1/16" proud of the forend where it contacts the barrel. These "posts" were epoxied in place. Once the epoxy was curred, I carefully drilled a hole using the existing screw hole in the forend as a guide, through each post. I then took a piece of dowell the diameter of which matched the barrel, wrapped it in sandpaper and sanded the protruding posts intil they were just above the inside of the forend. With the forend mounted in place, I could pass a dollar bill between the forend and barrel over its entire length. Now, with all of that said. If you are looking to improve accuracy, my groups shrank the most after I did a trigger job. You might want to think about that. Hope this helps, and again it is only what worked for me. Lee
