| For a #3 I would be tempted to change or modify the stock. But for that cartridge considering it's use for woodchucks and that type of target I'd use a scope ,perhaps a smaller 1x4. |

| I had the opportunity to buy a #3 like yours, back in 1989. I bought a new MK-II "Ultra Lite" instead. Wish I had your #3! Weaver makes mounts and rings that will fit your #3. A .223 Remmington is good for 300 yards. Can you see that well? The wife and I have 12 power scopes on "our .223's". |

No I can't. As a matter of fact, when I tried it out I could barely see the center of the target at 60 yards, with or w/o glasses, but did somehow manage to get 1" groups with the irons. I could still hit steel plates pretty consistently at about 100 yards but I think I need a scope to really see what I'm doing. (been using my eyes for 57 years now) Really like the rifle just the same.

A scope surely, but nothing higher than a 6X tops.....
