This has been a "cottage industry" build, tapered dodecagon barrel by McGowen, barrel fitted and chambered by Rocky Mtn Rifles, stock by me. Shoots and handles like a wand, I also slimmed the receiver .100" to make it the slimmest, lightest No.1 possible. Fore end I cut to absolute minimum dimensions, smallest and thinnest that can contain the strut, and the butt is substantially slimmer than the standard No.1 butt, widest point on the rifle is 1 5/8". Also ejects standard 7x57, but cut to accommodate the rimmed x57R.

It's beautiful work indeed, a young machinist in Alberta, a hobbyist with exceptional talent. He politely refused to do a matching one for me (planned a .300 H&H matching), as he didn't have time.

Wood I bought from a fellow in the states whose name escapes me at present, message me if you need it and I can search my email.

The weight of the rifle p dog is about 6 1/2lbs scoped, on the freight scale at work (only whole pounds as units it doesn't tip over 7), barrel is 20".

Thank you for the kind words, it's my favourite "affordable" rifle, meaning the upper threshold of what I'll use and hunt hard.

Lovely wood. What kind of trigger is that?

Thanks,

The feather on the buttstock is perfect. To have one centered at the back of the stock must be pretty rare, it's the only one I have seen. It looks great.
