Several of you here (me included) bought the former Wickliffe company M76 actions from Tom Ondrus during the past two years. Tom passed away this spring, and I had heard many rumors about who and when, and if any more would be available.

The good news:
Jerry Kirchoff bought out all of Tom's shop and the name.

He can be reached at alphagog@comcat.net

His plans are to make new rifles almost completely Wickliffe design and will call it the Cumberland SSR. His company is called Cumberland Arms. Fred Stegner was a stockmaker with the original Wickliffe company, dating back to 1976. Fred is working with Jerry to design the new stock.

I am trying to find out if action kits like Tom offered, complete actions, barreled actions, or just complete rifles will be offered in the near future.

Thanks for the info Rich. I bought an action and stock set from him a few years ago and have not gotten around to finishing it. As I recall he mentioned health problems in one of our phone conversations and said he was very ill. Sorry to hear of his passing.

I wanted an action kit without a safety on the breech block and at the time he did not have the correct hammer. So, he sent me be two breech blocks; one with the safety and one without so I could complete the gun in case he was unable get the half cock hammer. Now I'll contact Jerry Kerchoff about the hammer. Thanks again for posting the info

Mine is waiting for the 45-120 reamer to arrive in the mail tomorrow. A little engraving, checkering, and then off to the range.
