Nice choice in calibers!!! Mine's just a .405 win in an H&R Target with the 28" barrel. Hardly in the class of a custom, but works for me and shoots factory ammo into one ragged hole at 100yds.

Nice thumb !

I've got a #1-B in .405 with a 24" barrel, if I were doing it again I'd go with a 26 or 28" for balance.

I'm shooting the 400gr Woodleigh at about 2,000fps with Varget. Three shots into one big hole at 100 yards from the bench and it punches a big hole through a lot of critter in the field! Big Grin 265gr LFP/gc with Unique at 1,400 fps for fun.

You'll like it.

I haven't got around to shooting any handloads yet, have 30 rounds with H4895 and 350gr Barnes X-bullets loaded up, hope to get around 2100-2150fps out of em. Factory 300gr shoots 2230-2250fps. I'm using the 400gr Woodleigh data provided by Ty Herring at Barnes. I'm hoping the H4895 will utilize the 28" barrel.
