Looking into getting another #1. I'm getting pretty interested in a 416 ruger. I owned one in the alaskan but have recently sold it as I'm using my 375 ruger alaskan alot. Was just curious if anybody has one and what kind of velocity are you getting with the 24" barrel? Any on game performance to talk about? I have a chance to buy one at cost and the wood is really nice. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 416 Ruger in the Alaskan and love it. When I saw they were going to put it out in a #1, I decided to get rid of the 450-400 and get another 416. I think the 300 and 350 Barnes would be incredible in it for moose and elk. With a long throat and loaded out it would be something. Will see what happens in the next little while.

Thanks for the reply. I love my 375 ruger and like I said, had a 416 but sold it. I'm really interested in the #1 version. I can get 2550 out of my 375 alaskan with 300 gn bullets with no problem at all. Curious on what the 416 would do with a 24" tube.

It will part the sea (work miracles).I cast @ 250 G.C/ LBT sized @ .376.Using 5744 powder I get the same performance out to 300 yds. After that we don't talk about it.

I'm getting ready to sell my Ruger #1 in 416 Rigby (to fund another project) if you're interested.

It's got upgraded wood and it'd come with:

1) Limbsaver recoil pad
2) Mercury recoil reducer (helps with balance)
3) XS peep (plus factory sight in box)
4) RCBS dies
5) 50 Norma cases
6) 100 400gr TSX, 50 400gr Barnes banded solids

I haven't taken sale photos yet, but here are a few I have:

I'd be happy with $900 shipped, CONUS. lemme know if you are interested.
