Being a leftie, I have come to love Match Grade Machine for there work with Encore Barrels. I was looking on there forom board and read that they do work on Ruger #1 as well. What would be a great 22" barrel, whitetail #1. 243, 243AI, 250 Savage, 257 Roberts, 308, 284 Win, 308, what would be your choice 22" barreled #1.

I have a No. 1 in .257 Roberts and can highly recommend it for whitetail. A .250 Savage would be fun also.

go for the gusto...a 6.5x284. There are getting to be lots of quality hunting bullets for this cartridge. Couple that with the results the military teams are getting at 1000yds at Perry, and you have a can't miss deal. I wouls strongly urge you to get a 26" barrel on a #1. It is about the same length as a bolt gun with a 20-21" tube.

If it had to be a 22" tube, the 250 Sav AI or the .308Win std.
