My grandson would like to begin to hunt with me! He is small for his age (11) and left handed as well. The thought has occured to me that a single shot of some quality with additional barrels might be the beginnings of a battery for him. What say you all concerning the Encore (or one of the other choices)? Are they easy to use for a lefty (safety, etc)? Etc. Thank you in advance, Arthur Olds

Yes, the Thompson Center single shots are left hand friendly, and they are much better quality guns, than the lesser quality American made single shots.

Also most lever actions are left hand friendly.

The Encore is also available with a youth stock. I think it has a 12" LOP.

My wife shoots an Encore in 243 Win with a youth stock. She also has an extra heavy barrel 22-250 with an extra fore-stock. Its a nice little setup and works will for her.

The T/C platform is a great starter for a young shooter.
You don't need to go with the Encore though as a G2 Contender and the 7x30 Waters barrel is a deer killing machine. Back that up with a 222 Rem barrel and that's a really nice set to start with.

the encore is a real nice choice. mgm barrels makes fine choices for smaller kids. my own is a 16 1/4" barrel for 6.5 creedmoor( its a rifle due to a stroke) with a high plains gunstock (pending). if a kid wants, he/she gets!!!!
