45-70 is a good case for reloading to get velocities of 2100 fps with a 350 grains bullet and 40.000 to 50.000 CUP in a ruger no1. Now I wonder if its the same if you choose to build a 45-100 or 45-110 on a ruger no1. Is it possible to load those cases to the same pressure as the 45-70?

Theoretically, it is - but I wouldn' want to be the guy touching off that beast! Recoil would be murder in the light Ruger rifle. OUCH! Even my #2 musket with BP when shooting prone can smart quite a bit....

I barrelled a #1 in 45/120. The recoil gave me a nosebleed every time I pulled the trigger. I have a P14 based 505Gibbs that has some recoil but nothing like the Ruger in 45/120. I rebarrelled it with a 7mmSTW heavy varmint barrel and it shoots ok now. The trigger kind of sucks for a long range rifle.Mark
