Ruger No.1 Dream Gun?
What caliber and configuration would you like to see the Ruger No.1 offered in?

I'd be well set with No.1 Medium Sporters in 300 H&H, 9.3x74R, and 450/400 with a no thicker than necessary 28 inch barrel, serious fixed sights, case colored receiver, and a glorious walnut stock.

No 1 H stainless in 458 lott with an incredible piece of walnut would suit me fine....so much that I started carving my piece of walnut for my lott this morning. A return to the factory trigger that Moyers makes now wouldn't hurt either. The varmint model as a stainless in 257 weatherby wouldn't hurt either.

Shrink the action to that needed to contain the .30-40 class of cartridges. It's too big an action to make into a properly trim and lightweight gun.

I have my fathers #1 in .300 wtby mag. He took two elk byond 450 yds. Not much I would change about it.

I would place an equal amount of interest in a #1 with octagonal barrel chambered for 6mm rem.

What about a 38-55, 32-40, 25-35, 30-30, or a 303 brit.?

Don't believe a 500NE would be unreasonable with a very fine piece of wulnut, in the #1H configuration with express sights. I would like to see the rimmed nitroexpresses offered in the #1. R.

How about a walnut/blue 1A configured rimfire. I'd particularly like a .22 long rifle, but wouldn't turn up my nose at either of the .17s or the .22 Magnum.

I guess there is not much interest in the older dash rounds or the 303. Seems they would make fun cast bullet shooters in the No.1 At least to me.

Being slightly bizarre, I'd like a .32/40 and a .38/55.....

I'm thinking about a .411/.348Winchester AI with a 22 or 24 inch octagonal barrel. The safety needs to be inlet to avoid any trouble with case extraction/ejection. Then a nice piece of wood would be nice. I've already got a .405Winchester, .411KDF, .411Hawk and am waiting for the .450/.400 and perhaps a .400H&H. Sorry, I've got a fixation on .41 caliber.

Again I would like to see the #1H with very fine wulnut, 3 leaf express sights, quarter rib, and barrel band for sling. I know they come with some of these features but I think a run of British nitroexpresses in say 450 3 1/4NE, 500/465NE,470 NE, 500 NE, and 577 NE would start a nice collection. Guess a 600 is asking too much! R.

I,ll take a #1A in .257 roberts.
I would get rid of the barrel band sling swivel and just go with a standard one in the wood.
The band looks good but I would not want to shoot it with a tight sling !

Actually there are three which I crave and would probably be foolish enough to pay retail for!

First love would be a .358 Winchester in the 1A configuration.

Second a 1S in .264 Win Mag with a 26" barrel.

Third, the rimfire in a 7/8's scale version of the 1A.

All would have to be blue and walnut though.

21.5"; I never miked the diameter but it's medium-heavy. I just mounted the scope where it felt right; it's very fast coming on target for me and pretty much fires of its' own volition.

No doubt about it. It would have to be a No.1S in .300 H&H with a 26" barrel.

Takedown would be a huge plus.

How about a "Supergrade" version with upgraded wood and color case hardened receiver?

#1S with 26" bbl in stainless/walnut:

300 H&H

1A with 22" bbl in stainless/walnut:

17 HMR
358 Win.
Already have a Lipsey's special 1A in 35 Whelen in stainless/walnut.
Though they already exist, I also want a 1A in 7x57,204 Ruger, the new 9.3x74R and 450/400. Lou
