Is any company making custom barrels and chamberings for the H&R Handi-Rifle? Yes, I know, such a barrel would cost more than the action, but they don't offer any medium bores. I suppose one could rebore a .30/06 or .280 to .35 Whelen instead. Anyone know the muzzle diameter of these barrels?

This guy David White he is the man you are looking for. Does all kinds of break action rifle work. http://www.bellmtcs.com/forum/index.php?s=9cd24c949b67c...d45d638d&act=SF&f=24

I just had a 25-06 Ultra barrel rebored to 338-06 and am having a 38-55 Target barrel rebored/rechamber to 405 Winchester by Wayne York, he does an excellent job and his cut rifling is very accurate. Tim http://home.earthlink.net/%7Eoregunsmithing/index.html

Thank you both. In looking at White's site, it occured to me that were the twist right, the .357 could become a 9x57R. Hmmmmm....

I forgot to answer all your question!!.760" to .775" depending on the model, the .25-06 and .280 are 26" barrels, the 30-06 is a .22" barrel, but the muzzles are close to the same size for all the standard contours. I chose to rebore the .25-06 cuz I had 2 and it offered the 26" barrel. I also have a .30-06 Ultracomp and thought about having it rebored, but went for the longer barrel instead of the compensated barrel I also have a 357 maxi barrel and thought about having it rechambered to 35 whelen, but the 1:18¾" twist put a stop to that since I wanted to shoot the larger .358" bullets. Thank you, wrongtarget. The .357's twist would be marginal for a 250 gn bullet (rats). I, too, would go for the 26" tubes. The .760 muzzle diameter is larger than expected, and would accomodate any medium bore quite readily.
