This also seems like another great No.1 cal option.

Who here has one or shot one. And what are your thought's regarding the 375 H&H cal in the No.1 action(does it work/gel). Or should one just stick with the rimmed cases?

Never owned a 375 H&H. Always wanted one, just never got around to it.
What's it like as Moose/Elk cal. As good as the great 9.3's?

I have one. I love it. It makes a compact rifle compared to a bolt action in the same cal.
Back when I got mine the 9.3x74 wasn't chambered in the #1 so the .375 was my only choice. I think now I'd pick the 9.3 for the lighter wieght and shorter barrel but of course threr is a price to pay for that as well in increased recoil and a little loss of velocity.
I ave never had a extraction problem with any of my #1's

I have the #1 in .375, .404 Jeffery and .416 Rigby. Lovely rifles, if a bit heavy. The .375 is not bad but the .404 and .416 are a lot heavier. I've never had any problems with any of my #1s, all 21 of them, and yup, I'm looking for #22. thumb

I used to have one and am sorry that I sold it. I had a 1.5x5 Leupold on mine, and shot a lot of elk and deer with it in the timber. For me, it was the fastest handling and most natural pointing rifle that I have owned. The balance was great. The only thing I might change is pto ut a recoil pad on it, as it could get your attention with heavy loads.

I have had a No. 1 in .375 H&H for about 15 years. It works very well. Because of the extractor/ejector design on the Ruger No. 1, there is absolutely NO NEED to use a rimmed cartridge in them for reliable extraction! Rimmed, rimless, or belted, they all work fine!

There are purists who cannot stand to see anything but a rimmed round used in a single shot. But in the Ruger, that is merely an affectation!

As far as greatness is concerned, I don't believe there is ANY round in the entire world that has earned the reputation for all-around usefulness on all sizes and types of game that the .375 H&H has. The 9.3's might work just as well, but just in the availability of ammo alone, the .375 H&H has them all beat by far!
