A short time ago I posted a query about what to rebarrel a #1 in 250 savage to. Short version, found a #1 tropical on ebay with a little scabbard wear for 70 bucks. Couldn't pass on it the barrel screwed into the action a bit loose but with red locktite no problem, headspace was ok and so far it shoots really well. Only 2 problems, it's no lightweight and 416 rigby components are bloody expensive. Will post chrono data as I get it. Lynn

Hmmm... You rebarreled a No. 1 that had a FACTORY 250 Savage barrel on it? What did you do with that .250 Savage barrel??? "Bitte, trinks du nicht das Wasser. Dahin haben die Kuhen gesheissen."

a much better technique for tightening a loose barrel is to swage the shoulder out a bit toward the breech face. Red locktight is not my favorite thing to encounter on a gun. Steve

The 250 barrel was not factory, wouldn't have touched it probably sold it to someome who wanted to collect it. I did roll the barrel shoulder to bring it to TDC, as the barrel is not coming out in this life barring something exploding the loctite is moot
