hello..any thoughts as to value of a 1931 proved, christolph funk built , singleshot tipping bsrrel rifle.. 1 barrel is 7x57r, the 2nd is 5.6x50r..claw bases on each..no scope. a petite double kersten action..border engraving only, full stocked..approx. 21" barrels, wood is typical light colored walnut, excellent condion..wouls appreciate any thoughts as to value...thanks, john.. don't have photos | ||

Are you going to scope them? The price of scoping them could be triple the value of the rifle. Rebuilding claw mounts is expensive, and not many in North America can or will do it. If you could get it for under $1500 and you have access to a milling machine and a lot of time on your hands, it is probably a decent deal. You could easily exceed the price of a Merkel, and maybe even a 2nd hand Blaser in working out mounts. | |||

I originally wrote "triple the value", I realize I should have said "triple the cost". The rifles value isn't over the top unless it is completely unmolested and collectable (like a Side lever Fraser?). You could do Smithson mounts for about $1200-1800. Or EAW mounts for less than $1000 installed. | |||
