Thanks ASDF I have the #46 Lyman ! No Help as I'm looking for bullets for black powder or substitues ! I loaded Hodgton Trip/7 2/F with .100 crush and card wad .030 , poor grouping at 50 yards . I checked chamber and Uberti has a free bore ! so I'm reloading another batch and moving the bullets foreward filling the free bore almost .200 foreward new load about 60 grains trip/7 2F, My 1886 Win will not allow moving bullets foreward in chamber as they will not load past a certain lenght , so I will load 300 grain JHP and 70 grains Trip/7 2F and try again .

Great performance loads have to by discovered by trial and error, not discovered in some internet posting. That said, abut 85 gr of Goex 2fg or Swiss 1.5fg and a 550 gr paper patched bullet of the appropriate design is hard to beat.

Thank you Brent, and MuskegMan , My winchester 1886 is brand new , and the booklet and barrel says black powder only ! My 1885 Uberti falling block also brand new , making loads for it will not be a problem ! the 1886 lever is not going to be easy , can load for it but accuracy is poor at present .I was in hopes of someone having one and I could benefit from their trial and error . Thanks fellas Concho

FYI/FWIW, the data I provided is from and article specifically on the Win M1886. The article states "most references limit the Model 1886 to blackpowder pressures, which in effect runs up to 28,000 psi. After the intro of nickel-steel barrels, circa 1895, and the intro of the .33 WCF in 1903, pressure limitations for the Model 1886 increased to about 40,000 psi."
The jacketed bullets loads sown are in the 40,000 psi range. The BP loads provided are in the 28,000 psi range. Unless you have one of those 100+ year-old rifles, you should be able to go above the BP psi range IMO.
Muskegman Please advise what is FYI/FWIW and where can I find it ? I need charts for CUP copper unit pressure / also compared to PSI pounds per square inch , and IMO means ? sorry abreviations give me trouble Thanks Concho anyone my E-Mail is concho@blazenet.net to foreward charts or info on subject .
