Gents,
I recently got a no 1 rolling block, a militia model from 1871. The barrel was/is in terrible shape. It looked as if someone had drivin a hex nut into the bore and turned it a few times. Anyway I was picking up my latest project
(1917 Win Enfield in 416 Rem Mag) from my 'smith and let him take it back to his shop.
Well he has since rebarreled it to a 357 max,a 22" round tube. Looking over the action he discovered it has a single set trigger,I plan on installing a vernier tang rear and a lyman #17 front sight and setting it in a new walnut schuetzen stock with a brass hook buttplate. Seems a 22" tube will give me excellent velocities without extreme pressures with the heaviest bullets. Should be good fun eh ? 45nut

Navy arms imported some "small" modern steel rolling block rifles chambered in 357 Mag into the US some years ago.
I have seen the listing for them in one of the gunzine annual editions, but have NEVER seen one of the rifles. I do know of one person in WA that has one and has had his opened to Max.
I had hopes that Navy Arms would import some more, or at the least the smaller action, but I guess SASS sales keep them busy and prices high.
Oh well maybe day.
I guess I suffer because I thank a single shot rifle should have a hammer . . . yep, I'm weird like that! [Roll Eyes]

Wow,
Got the rolling block today,,,Friggin' amazing.
Heavy, heavy barrel...same diameter as the action.
He surprised me there. The tang fits perfectly, the Lyman globe looks so sweet out there. My job Is the woodwork, Like I said Schuetzen style is in order here. I got work to do. But It Shoots ! I ran 4 rounds thru as soon as I got home,3 out of the four hammered the 6" spinner at 200 yards, first time out ! Pleased as punch and gotta share...45nut [Razz]

You need to post some pictures! That sounds like a fantastic rifle. As I mentioned in another post, I'm a fan of the rolling block, also a fan of the 357 max, what a neat combo!

Gents,
I still have some woodwork to do here....I will certainly post a couple pics in a few days. You will like this,it is coming along smoothly but my wood skills are lacking. And you can only take it so far. I can remove wood correcly but once, putting it back is tough ! Keep watching though. 45nut
