Has anyone had anything to do with a Krieghoff Hubertus rifle and how do they compare to a Merkel K2. I have a chance to purchase one relative cheap.

Go over to www.blaserpro.com and ask your question. At least one fella over there had, or still has one.

He likes it.

The Blaser K95, the Krieghoff Hubertus and the Merkel K2 are the premium break action rifels.
I heart a lot of discussions about this rifles, because this typ of singel shot rifles become more and more popular.

The result of all these discussions was allways the same.

Merkel is No. 3

Blaser, the modern CNC rifle, you can change the barrels in different calibers, its just a perfect and modern rifle is the No. 1 for the most of them

but

the classic rifle, with the highest image factor, and the highest price, thats the
Krieghoff Hubertus. Its hard to find a used one, even in Germany, and the prices, compared with the Blaser prices are much higher.

I can say that my Blaser K95 Stutzen in 308, is one of, if not the, most accurate hunting rifle I have ever fired.

And think about this, the front ppart of the stock is permentally attached to the barrel.

HOW do they do that???

Also it handles great, it is neat... sweet... petite... Cool

I think this story has been told. A friend had one of those Merkels. It was a high grade with very nice engravings. . On his second or third shot-since new-, the iron sight fall. He immediatelly contacted Merkel and they told him to glue it! He has another issue with the extraction , the cases did not fell freely , they had to be taken out with with the fingers, that was an impossible task to do with a gloved hand . He choses Merkel because was an all steel action. Finally , he got rid of it. For me all these was shocking because I like Merkels, my hunting shotgun is a SxS Merkel... But my most cherished rifle is a K-95 in 30R, wich is incredibly accurate and have endured many adventures and made impossible shots.

I haven't fired a Krieghoff Hubertus yet, but I'd love to.

I can say that handling a K95, which I always admired, then a Chapuis single clarified things for me. The Blaser felt like it came out of a factory while the Chapuis felt sleek.

I do own a Krieghoff Hubertus with 3 barrels. It also has the single set trigger.

I have barrels in 6.5x57R, .30-06, and 9.3x74R for it.

All 3 have scopes in swing off mounts.

All 3 are very accurate and fun to shoot.

They are great to pack across long treks.

I am a big Blaser fan and have owned and shot the K95, but it is not as friendly to left handed shooters as the the Hubertus due to the placement of the extractor.

Both are very nice rifles and I'd own either with not problems if the extractor was placed differently in the K95.

I'm really glad I got a smoking good deal on the .30-06 as a used rifle a while ago and added the other barrels before the dollar tanked against the euro.
