Has Ruger ever chambered the standard #1 in 6.5x55? I've been interested in trying the #1's, but 6.5 Swede is my favorite caliber for deer and elk and they don't currently offer it as an option.
A friend of mine have owned a Heym Fallingblock based on the Ruger No.1 these were not common in Sweden but there were some. They were factory rifles, not custom rifles. The actual rifle was in cal 6,5x55 Swede.

It is ! Five hundred were made for the Cast Bullet Shooters Assoc. in the '70's. Mine sluggs .379 so those guys weren't kidding about shootin cast . Even .377 jacketed are inaccurate but .381 300gr Hudsons' from a Sarco mould do very well!
All you need to do is too convince a Distributor to have several hundred special run #1's made and they will do it. It requires an order of 500 pieces for Remington to make spaecial run firearms. Grice's Wholesale has them do it every year with the 7600 in 35 Whelen and 35 Remington.

Cannot help you with your question; however, I am a big 6.5 mm fan and would love to know what you use in your 6.5x55 for elk and what kind of results you have. I have a copuple of .260 Remington rifles and now have a 6.5x55 Swede [Winchester 70] on its way. It appears it may be an even better caliber in the Model 70 with reloads and premium bullets.
