Picked up a new toy the other day an H&R single shot 45/70. I don't know much about single shots.
-How is the strength of the H&R singleshot compared to a Ruger #1?

-What are cheap bullets for the 45/70 just for blowing up water filled jugs etc.

-What powders should I start with?

What are good hunting loads for the 45/70 both reloads and factory?

see Tyler Kemp's posts on this rifle. Clue: it ain't a #1. LaserCast offers several 458 bullets, and AA5744 is good stuff.
