Just picked up this No.1 and wanted to know a couple of things please. Looking up th serial number on Ruger's site, it was made in 1989. The first question; Is this a factory trigger? If not can anyone tell me something about it? (actually, can someone explain this one no matter if factory or not?) And next ???; Was this a factory finish? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!! ______________________ Smedley ______________________ From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.' From the photo it dosn't look like a factory trigger or finish. I don't recall the #1's ever being chambered for the .270 Wetherby ether but that could be a rechamber frome a .270 Win. DRSS NRA life AK Master Guide 124

I'm not a No. 1 expert (but I did stay in a Holiday Inn last night!)... That may be an M.H. Canjar single set trigger (aftermarket). Don't have a recollection of that finish, but again, I'm no expert. Like 218, I would guess a Canjar trigger. Aftermarket barrel and finish. These are good things. Roger Kehr Kehr Engraving Company (360)456-0831

That is definitely a Canjar single set trigger, and it is certainly a nice thing to have. They go for about 200 bills, and that's if you can find one. To use the set feature, you push the trigger forward and a small tab pops out in the center of the trigger shoe. That means the trigger is set, and you just touch the small tab to trip the trigger. Its letoff weight will be set in ounces. Regards, Wayne E.

With the rife cocked push, forward on the trigger shoe. It will snap slightly and expose a thin blade in the center of the shoe. Touch that blade with about 4 to 8 oz to fire the rifle. Otherwise you can pull the trigger and fire it like normal.

Nope! NOT a Ruger factory trigger! Looks alot like a CANJAR single-set to me. They are not only great set, but improve the UNSET pull about 100% also! I'm pretty sure there have been .270 Weatherbys in the No. 1 from the Ruger factory. "Bitte, trinks du nicht das Wasser. Dahin haben die Kuhen gesheissen."

Ruger did not offer the No. 1 in 270 Weatherby mag in 1989, that was a lot later. I agree, that is a Canjar single set trigger. From years of bluing experience I can assure you this is not a factory finish. Someone has bead blasted or fine sand blasted the metal and hot blued it for a matte blue finish. Craftsman

The caliber lettering is larger than Ruger’s stamp. And as I recall from handling Ruger No 1s in Weatherby calibers, Ruger abbreviates Weatherby (Wby). From the picture I see no evidence of Ruger’s caliber stamp being covered up. Unless someone rechambered a 270 Win to 270 Wby (not a great idea), it’s more than likely a custom barrel because Ruger didn’t chamber Weatherby rounds in 89. A Canjar trigger, custom mat finish, possibly a fine custom barrel, Life is good.
