You're selling it?!?!?! Wish I had something to trade you for it, my only Winnie is rather new and not very collectable; besides, it is chambered for 45 Colt, a handgun cartridge: I wonder how easy it would be to get ammo in your neck of the woods now. I guess I will plug away with my little No3, I have devised an experiment to determine whether 45-90 will be sufficient for me (I am very mindful of your advice that the RCBS may be too much) I shoot 450 gr. Lyman .451 Volunteer bullets paper patched and figured that I could size it to bore diameter, paper-patch the bottom 1/4", and seat it out far like you do your tapered bullet for your Pedersoli Sharps to see if that is the capacity right for my project. It that is not sufficient, I may go on up to the RCBS and start my loads at the nitro-for-black level loadings. I guess there is still room for in-between: there was the 45-100, and 45-110. As it is, the max loads that I shoot are heavily compressed: I pop them back into the sizing die to make sure they chamber well (also giving a bit of a taper crimp to the patched bullets) and I think a bit more case capacity is needed to get the performance I am looking for.

I've never shot one of these before, just what does the recoil compare to? Makes my heart quicken just looking at yours, that rifle is a pretty thing. Roadtrash

Road I'll be interested to hear Wallace's reply too, but think of firing 3-- 30 caliber belted mag's at once. Then add a 270 in there......

Full power smokeless loads will push a 500gn SP over 2400fps. Caculated recoil just a tad over 90flbs. Felt recoil "Fucking Ouch"! That's close to 3.5 x 30.06's. The only reason i'm selling it is to buy a 45/120 Sharps; you know the type with an exposed hammer that you can shoot in BPCR. I don't see why they can't amend the rules as hammerless guns in the form of Farquasen? Sharps Borchardt, Martini etc were on the scene before 1896! A little vote the right way & I would keep the bloody thing. Any SASS voters support my call?
