I had posted this in the big bore forum as that's what I tend to read, but thought I would add it here. This is a 1997 vintage Browning 1885 Traditional Hunter in 45-70. I just picked it up Friday night when I stumbled on it while picking up some cleaning supplies. It even has pretty decent wood. Browningguy Houston, TX We Band of 45-70ers

nice stumble this time of year - did you pick it up in the fall? (sorry but this is getting to be a long day)

Thanks for posting the pics, Browningguy! I have a custom rifle in progress on the Browning 1885 action in 30-40 Krag...and I'm getting really antsy to get it into my grubby paws! Looks like you stumbled well. Have the 30/40 in a Ruger #3 It's nice and shoots well. But feels clubby compaired to a low wall.

Thanks guys, I had it out to the range last Saturday, it's a real pussycat with standard pressure Remington's, but you do know you're shooting with the +P loads. I've got some handloads worked up with 300 gr. HP's to try this weekend. I love this gun! Browningguy Houston, TX We Band of 45-70ers
