Well I was at my buddys gunshop and a batch of new Ruger 2006 Catalogs arrived.

Sure enough they are listing the 9.3x74R in a No.1H 24"bbl.

Just thought I'd pass the info along. Also a new No.1 offering a No.1AB in .204 Ruger

I had a Merkel K1 in 9.3X74R.. can you say OUCH!!

worst kicking rifle ever shot. 6 pound rifle with a DGR bullet was harsh.

I have an Encore with custom barrel in 9.3x74R, and it's managable to shoot. No problem with recoil. Great round.

Interesting. What length, what contour? Who built it for you?

I got a barrel in 9,3x74 R/12 gauge for my Blaser B95; the shotgun barrel carries now an insert in .22 Hornet, as a "bergstutzen" combination.

The Nosler 250 grain BT and the Norma Vulcan 232 grain shoot very well, my attempts to copy the 9,3x72 R with 193 grain SP bullets from S&B was not really successfull, I cannot get less ther 60 mm groups at 100 meters. Still, for roe deer in the woods sufficient, I'd say and the first of May is only a couple of days away.

For my K95 I got another barrel (thanks to egun.de) in 8x75 RS. I am tacky and thus loking for a used die, the new ones are quite expensive.

I have a Chapuis double rifle in 9,3x74R. It weighs 7 1/4lbs without scope. While not a plessure to shoot off the bench, when shooting game it is a pussycat.
With it I have killed a LOT of game, from armadillos to elephants with it with excellent results.

I am also a BIG fan of the Ruger No1.
The 9,3x74R may be the BEST calibre ever offered in the No1.
Not too big for deer.... just enough for buff and elephant.
It will be a great hunting rifle.

Okay, I just got off of the Ruger website, and they list this caliber in the 1-S model, with a 22 inch barrel.

Now this will sound stupid I guess to some of the more knowledgable on here, but why, with that short action, don't they offer that rifle in that caliber with a 26 inch barrel.

I own several Ruger Model 77's, but it seems like that once they go past 308 diameter calibers, they want to reduce barrel length, I just don't agree with that short barrel mentality.

NE 450 No 2. I hope you don't really mean 1 1/4 lb !!! Perhaps 10 1/4 or 11 1/4......My 1885 Browning came with a 28" barrel which I cut to 22" .It removed significant weight and is very handy in the woods at 37" .For the 45-70 no real loss of velocity.....BTW my 1885 is now 8 1/2 lbs with scope and strap.

I thinned down the bbls. Hollowed out the rib and the stock, thinned out the forearm...... Eeker

Actually it was a typo. I have edited my post to reflect it real weight. 7 1/4 lbs.

Ruger has always been overly wrapped up int the woods hunting mentality.
For example the
.44 Mag autoloader
the short barrelled #1s in 45/70
the short barrelled #3s in all calibers
