A few questions about glass bedding my M77 30-06 wood stock. Do I need to remove some wood in the areas to be bedded? Should I wait to free float barrel after the bedding is finished? And how to handle screw holes? Planning to only bed recoil lug and tang.Stock all ready has the beginnings of a split in the wood between trigger and mag, is that an issue to be attended to? Also, I have a synthetic stock on it's way, so this not a do or die situation if it does not come out perfect the first time. winter project. thank you in advance for any advice.

For the crack between trigger and mag, you could use the Remington style of crosspin. Get a brass or stainless screw, cut the head off, drill a hole from one side, but don't go all the way through, epoxy the headless screw into the hole. Make the screw about 1/16-1/8" short, and cover the hole in epoxy. Jeremy

Forbedo, Why drill a hole, and patch it?? just cut out a path going almost out of the wood insert a tight threaded screw without a head or with a small head and glass it in..then on the outside it doesn't show..
