Taurus tang sights for Stevens Favorite?

I have a few original Stevens Favorite rifles I am fixing up for my kids. Brownells lists the Taurus tang sight which looks to be a nice copy of the Marbles for considerably less cost. They show them for the Taurus Model 62/72 and Model 63. I was wondering if either one will fit the tang of the original Stevens Favorite. As of right now the tangs on my Favorite’s are not drilled so the screw hole spacing is not really a big issue. My concern is if the contour on the Taurus sights will fit the Favorite.

I wont be able to do anything on these until I get home in 8 months, but I can get all the sights and rest of the parts ordered so they are ready and waiting for me. If anyone can let me know if either if the Taurus sights will work I would really appreciate it.

It's a relatively easy thing to change the contour of a tang sight base. Pick the one that appeals to you and when you get home, send it on and I will shape it for you. That's the least I can do for your service!

Malm,
WOW!!! I really appreciate that. Since my in-laws live in SLC I will be able to drop the sights off in person shortly after I get back and take leave.

M1tanker: I put a Marble's on one of the new Savage Favorites (Model 30G) a few years back and liked it. I just bought another one of these little rifles and plan to put the reproduction Stevens tang sight on it. These are available from Jeffs Outfitters for $65. If you go with the Taurus, make sure the staff can adjust high enough to let you see over the hammer and receiver.

This sounds like a neat project. Please keep us posted on your results and I for one would like to see a picture of the finished project. I think this would be the perfect gun for one of my grandsons who is a little smaller in stature than the others. He could handle the little Stevens well. DW
