I just got a Sako L461. The Optilock rings are solid but bulky on the small Sakos. I will be switching to after the season. Give Talley a call their rimfire rings might work. I think Burris makes rings that will work.

Leupold offers Sako Rings which work well as well. With a very slight modification they work extremely well on this BRNO! Member NRA, SCI- Life #358 28+ years now! DRSS, double owner-shooter since 1983, O/U .30-06 Browning Continental set.

I have a set of the original Sako rings, the 4 screw ones. Email me if you are interested in them. Jim Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild

I agree that the Leupold Ringmounts make the nicest mount, especially for the little Vixen action. For mounting a 40mm objective scope on a sporter, you'll need the "medium" height. The "high" rings are for 50mm objectives. By the way, I have some Leupolds on a .375 H&H Sako and they're holding up just fine. 308SAKO: How do you modify the Leupold Sako ringmount for the CZ action? The mounts in your photo look more like the original Sako mounts. If you mount a scope very low on the CZ do you have to modify the very thick bolt handle root in order to clear the scope's ocular bell (eyepiece)?

Thanks for your interest Stonecreek.
Actually the modification is in the form of borrowing a second wider Sako base clamp, and the little stud or tit which hangs down from the rear ring into the Sako inverted U alignment slot is removed. In my case the tit was removed from a fierce recoiling .375 carbine which was later rebarreled... but iI digress. My name for the removable portion which slides under the dovetail on the large nut side of the original Sako 4 screw mounts. There is no modification of the BRNO, or bolt required. Blessed or plagued with a love of Sako rifles from an early age I have fallen into some spare parts over the years and because I like the look of metal over the many common substitutes... improvision prevailed. Right now the lovely little BRNO is somewhere on a Bekins truck heading west, so when time permits a closeup photo of the conversion will be added.
