I heard about the incident from a guy the other day, but actually watched it last night on the news.

BATF agent giving a speech on gun safety to a classroom of kids and shoots himself in the leg during the demo on how to “safely†handle a firearm.

If that ain’t bad enough, it was being video taped and the BATF released the video and now the agent is suing them for “damaging†his reputation...and he’s still on the job!!!!!!!!!

Excuse me...it was just ponted out to me that it was a DEA agent, not BATF. Sorry about that! Still pretty damned funny though.

If he sues anyone it should be his instructor for not beating him to death during training for placing his finger on the trigger before acquiring a target... Now the kids AND the agent will need counseling! Big Grin

He had a Glock, and what he “thought†he was doing was dropping the slide (without a mag inserted), and pulling the trigger so he could field strip it. Unfortunately, he did everything EXCEPT remove the loaded magazine, so when he dropped the slide the weapon did just exactly what it’s supposed to do...chamber a round!

Even funnier still...it was his own kids classroom, and they were sitting in the front row!!!! Can you imagine the razzing those poor kids are gonna have to put up with now?

You can barely hear him on the tape, but he has just started saying: “And I am the ONLY person qualified to“...BANG!

The lawsuit must be the latest news because I saw the video about a year back.

Just like Rick said:
His famous last words: "I'm the only one here professional enough to handle a Glock 40".

BANG.

Idiot. At least he shot himself and not a kid.

The last thing I would want to do is appear "again" on national T.V... I guess his first appearance wasn't enough. Some people just can't get enough of the camera Big Grin

I remember years and years ago there was a story in Outdoor Life, or one of them mags, where a guy told the story of how he accidently shot his horse he had tied to a tree, thinking it was an elk!

Silly me, but I think if I would have done that I would be trying to keep it quiet, not publish the account in a magazine!

This DEA guy sounds about the same as this other clown. Do something really stupid, then tell the world about it.

That's OK Rick, he's still a law enforcement professional who's federally licensed to carry a firearm; for our safety.

Don't you feel safe?

What kind of bozos are these government agencies hireing? What the hell is doing bringing a loaded weapon into a classroom full of kids. Dont they teach this agents gun safety?

The guns should be empty and maybe some plastic dummy cartritges used in the demonstration if any.

I remember in grade school the fire department came in for a assembly demonstration.

They showed us kids that if you take your moms hair spray and spray it at a lit match you get a cool torch. After that, I think every kid in the town after school went home and stole their moms hair spray and went out and torched ant hills.

The sad part really is that his son saw it happen and now is living with the embarrasment of having a fool for a dad. Just think how his son must feel. Kids are innocents bearing the grunt of the shame from their friends.

He's no different than the fool going up the ladder at Waco drawing his pistol and shooting himself in the leg. It was on the tape. Going up the ladder he draws and shoots himself in the leg halfway up the ladder. Stopped and came back down, must've changed his mind.

So also, about yesterday, an Aussie soldier shot himself in the head while apparently "cleaning" his 9mm Hi-power.

These pieces usually have a mag disconecter, just for starters, but some soldiers have discovered that a long finger or such up the mag well can disable it or trip the trigger directly. Don't know why you'd want it pointing at your head while you fool around with it though.
Our boys can regularly get their Aug Styers to go off by them selves also.

Cripes, all MY AD/ND's have been on purpose.
Sure, I can elaborate if need be. Smiler

You know I did notice that just about all instructions that come with firearms always state that you should be sure to point the weapon at yourself or someone else and then pull the trigger before, during or after cleaning them.
