OK, I know how to tell the difference between large & small ring Mausers by the stepped receiver on the large ring models. What I'd like to know is the actual diameter of the rings. I've seen both 1.41" and 1 3/8" for the large ring and 1.3" and 1 1/4" for the small ring.

Can anyone tell me what the actual sizes are?

Varies a bit..but small ring is 1.3" and large ring is 1.4" to complicate matters, there are small ring/ large thread and large ring/ small thread configurations..GENERALLY: Small ring has major diameter threads of about.980 and large ring about 1.1...both close enough to 12 TPI, 55 degrees "V" type...there...told you everything I know...didn't take long, did it?
