I have a Remington Model 720 thats my next project to Restock. Bottom metal is 3 piece and the floor plate. It has a aluminum trigger guard,Riveted mag box, front tang(steel),and a aluminum floor plate. The floor plate is fits kinda like a military mauser except instead of the release button on the rear it has a screw you have to undo to remove the plate. I have a custom m30 but it has a blind magazine so I dont know exactly what a m30 bottom metal is like, Though I think they are a one piece like a mauser. Is there a one piece botom metal that would be a "trick" set up for this m720? how about a m30 or ...?...

Bottom metal made for P-14 or M17 Enfields should work also. like what A-Sq and many other customs are built with.Ed MZEE WA SIKU

Consiter making or adapting your pieces and parts and possibly some post '64 M-70 parts to make up new bottom metal. I have done this andit makes a much better trimmer and better looking rifle than straightening the king in the original bottom metal. that tends to look really chunky and boxie. I have done it by removing the box frame from the trigger guard. The escushon for the front action screw was fabricated. It was then hinged to the floor plate. The hole in the floor plate was welded up. I rigged a catch that was hidden in the remaining part of the trigger guard. The button was placed in front of the trigger, like a M-700 bolt release. The guard frame is different in the P-14 and M1917. The boxes are different shapes.

GSP7, You probably know already, but a 720 Remington is somewhat of a rare bird these days. Is the caliber 30-06 or otherwise?? Just curious for the model is highly sought after in some circles and that rifle was used as a prize for Navy Rifle teams in years past. Might want to consider using a military version and convert however, but just a suggestion. Hate to see a firearm of that era altered. Favor Center!! dsiteman

Dsiteman... Yes it be rare. I bought a custom model 30 several years ago that was modified like a 720. My quest began, searching for a 720. I bought this one off gun broker at a good price for what it is. The action and all markings are excelent but it has a 270 barrel that is turned down pencil thin. Either its rebarreled or a turned down(some one bubba'ed it) . Stock was a abortion custom(piece of shit). Its is scoped nice with a bear cub and Bueler bases and rings. I will probably use the original bottom pieces to redo it. And rebarrel as original as I can. I know most of the 720 were Marine Navy award rifles. I know a Gun shop owner near camp Penalton that was a marine sniper and he has eleven 720 award rifles that he won. Heres the one im restoreing Image station sucks!!!
