Tightening of Warne Rings

The Warne quick detach rings appear to be significantly smaller than the 1in. scope tube.

Anyone recommend a good method for tightening? bottom or top first, how tight ultimately?

Yeah, I've noticed that too, I used them a few times some years ago. Often the two ring halves didn't match up, one side would be higher than the other so I would have to ream them with a Clymer reamer. That usually opened them up enough.

If I remember correctly you have no choice but to tighten the two bottom screws first, then tighten the levers onto the base and finally tighten the tops. Sometimes after reaming them enough to get them even the tops of the rings would just about touch when tight.

I hope they've gotten better at making those things, they looked good but early on their craftsmanship was poor. I still have a couple of sets around for some projects that got pushed to the back burner. They do come back to zero though.
