Replacing a rear sight on Springfield 1911-A1

I have purchased an adjustable rear sight to replace the simple blade on my .45 ACP Springer. I know there is a specific side you are supposed to drive the old sight out from and then drive in the new one, but for the life of me, I can't remember! Can anyone help?
