Hey guys, I'm looking at getting a 22lr lever gun for my daughter in a Browning or Winchester. Any thoughts as to which gun is better built. The Winchester costs a little more ($399 vs $369)and is very heavy.

Thanks for the help.

I've owned the Browning BLR .22 and it's a fine gun. I've also owned the Marlin 39 and wouldn't hezitate a bit getting another in the carbine length barrel.

My very first firearm was a Browning BL-22 which my dad gave me in 1973. I've fired tens of thousands of rounds through it over the years. My kids (7 and 10 yrs old) are now using it. I've replaced the firing pin, but other than that, it's never given me any problem.

The rifle is light enough for kids to hold off-hand, and is easy for them to handle safely. I can't say enough good things about this rifle.

Good for you for getting your kids involved in sport shooting and hunting.
