Anyone have advice on round "butt-ing" a 37 Brazillian? I am not sure but would like to figure out the ins and outs. Maybe it would help in concealed carry. It has a bobbed hammer, 3 1/4" barrel, and was refinished with some pitting left to avoid excessive grinding when originally refinished. I still have to silver solder the front sight on and shoot it in. Last I have a friend to refinish it with duracoat.

Don't exactly know what a Brazillian is but round butting an N frame is no big deal. Just lay a pair of round butt grips on it scribe and start removing metal. I round butted a 44mag 4" long before they were available in round butt and Jensons here in Tucson used to do it regularly however they cut the backstrap bent it and silversoldered to the bottom of frame. Only chore is cutting the grooves in the backstrap. I used a checkering file and then deepened with a needle file. Could not cut grooves in front strap. Not really worth the effort. I even used the wrap round grips . It require you put two filler pieces of wood in front of grips where the strap has been cut away. Does not really show badly depending on color of fill in pieces and I cut grips down and removed checkering and they actually made really nice grips. I've used it for over 30 years that way. Back in the early '80's, when I worked at Maryland Gunworks Ltd., Lou converted 3 M28 S&W revolvers to 44 Special. Lined the original barrel with a SS Apex liner and rounded the butt to K frame dimensions. Makes a great conceal revolver. I shoot 240 Gr. cast bullets from mine at around 850 FPS. 37 Brazillian is an S&W N frame in 45 acp for moon clips or 45 rimmed. Paraphrasing, I guess no guide is needed except scribing the round grip pattern on both sides of the frame?
