It never fails, you finally find what you want and there's always a catch. I found a rifle I desire, but the seller is in Canada. I understand that I need to find an importer in Canada who can send the rifle to my FFL in the US. Anyone have any experience with this? Advice? Or that can handle the transfer fo me? Thanks

I think you need an “exporter†in Canada and an “importer†in the USA. If your FFL holder is not licensed to import he can’t take delivery. You need to find an FFL holder that is licensed to import firearms.

That's correct... your seller needs an "exporter" in Canada, and that's not too difficult to find as the Canadians seem all too happy to get a gun out of thier country and are pleased to grease the skids with minimal work to do so. On this side, you need an "importer" (PM me if you don't have one) and you'll need to apply for an import permit (which takes about 6-8 weeks to get). It's pretty easily done, but requires a little patience and some paperwork.

Thanks Rick0311 and Newguy. Newguy I will email you if I need assistance. The Canadian dealer/seller said that he has done it properly quite a few times, however he had heard that the USPS was no longer shipping guns. I realize they still ship within the US and thought maybe they will not ship to Cananda. This fella has a dealer in Montana who receives the rifle, then would ship it to my FFL. Thanks again for the advice and I'll let you know how it works out.
