I am going to put a new trigger on my Model 70 post 64. This will be a hunting rifle. What is your opinion of Timney or are there some others better.

I just put a bunch of timmys on my savage 110s works great. Much better then factory. But if you are looking for something really lite you most likely have to go to a jewel or can jar.

Rob,
Why, the M-70 trigger is one of the best triggers ever designed..Yours can be adjusted or have a trigger job for about $20. bucks..Its the same trigger thats on the pre-64.

Ray's right. Any trigger you put on the M70 isn't going to be as good of a setup as the original design. Why spend $100 to put on a trigger that isn't as good as the original? Have a competent gunsmith work it over and take it hunting.
