Guys,

Have the pieces for the action wrench done. Just need to bore the hole in the bottom and make a handle.

Have a 36" piece of 1" 1018 in the bin. I would think that's thick enough. How about a reasonable length. Thinkin' 24" is a good size for most use and storage.

That be OK?

Thanks!

I use Brownells wrench and most barrels will come off ok with it as-is. For those that don't I have a 3 ft cheater pipe that I slip over the handle.

A short handle will keep you from inadvertantly over tightening barrels. I like to tighten them snug but not tight.

Mike,

How long is the handle on the Brownell's wrench?

I did find a note in their instructions that the handle is 1.250" in diameter.

Thanks!

Mike,

It's 10.5" but a foot wouldn't be bad.

FWIW, it you have a 24" bar, a pull scale will make it a torque wrench with reasonably repeatable results. With a 24" bar, the scale reading will roughly equal twice the actual torque in FtLbs applied at the threads.
