I have been looking at the jig Brownell's sell's for milling the bolt for a Sako extractor. Just wondering what everyone else uses

I've not used a jig to install these so I can't comment on which is best. It's pretty easy and straight forward to set up a bolt for the machine work, so I've never contemplated the need to purchase one. Rotate the bolt lugs to the proper angle and level the bolt body, locate the center of the bolts body and lock the table, locate the forward edge of the bolt nose, zero the dials and go...

I totally agree with malm.....I hold bolts between two V blocks in the mill vice, locate and cut. I can't figure out where a jig would be needed........of course that never stopped anybody from making one to sell. [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Glad some one typed in, that jig runs 140 plus shipping Im sure, I need a vise for my mill and would rather spend the money on a good vise than something I dont need.
Jack, could you post a picture of the v blocks?

You don't need no v-blocks. Clamp it in the vise and go to it. I think I have done over 200 of these and haven't use a jig yet. I got the original dimensions from the "Rifle" magazine about a zillion years ago and have made a few prints for different configurations since.
