I have a Rem.700 that I mounted a scope on and removed the front and rear sights. Any good way to fill the remaining screw holes? I don't like the look with the holes there. The mounting screws I removed with the sights are too long to simply put back in the holes. 64,999,987 legal firearms owners killed no one yesterday.

Brownell's and Midway have plug screws that are used to fill the holes. Most are 6-48 thread. You can do a plug screw search on either site and get results. Midway has some good photos of what you'll need.

The simplest way is to get "filler screws" They are also called "plug screws" Your local gunshop should have them, or you can order them online. for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

FWIW, I found it easier and more aesthetically pleasing to leave the open sights on the rifle. I would only remove them if the rear sight interfered with the mounting of a scope. I am kind of particular in how I think things should look, and even using plug screw doesn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling. Lou **************** NRA Life Benefactor Member

Look up MidwayUSA on youtube. They have many videos of common gunsmithing chores and I know there's one on this very thing. Having it explained is nice, seeing it done is better. Here it is. I notice many more videos have been added since I last looked at them. I think these are a treasure trove. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...feature=channel_page
