My slide stop has always been a problem on my 3rd variation pistol. It difinatevely broke. Numrich sells a slide stop assembly (185180C). Theirs includes a pivot pin that penetrates the frame and the slide stop pivots on it. Mine was never that way. The slide stop has a hole, the frame has a pin pressed in to it. There is no evidence the pin was ever staked to the slide stop. The pin is round top and blued. Is my gun a freak? Or, is it likely that the pivot pin siezed into the frame and the slide stop . Should I drill, tap and jack out the frame pin and use the style of slide stop assembly that has an integral pin?

All of the Seires 2 and 3 Woodsmans I have ever handled, and worked on, the slide stop pin was riveted to the arm. I just went and pulled the last NOS slide stop part I have, and yes the end of the pin is hollow where they riveted the pin to the arm. Would suspect the pin in yours is stuck in the hole in the frame, which caused the arm to break off from the riveted section of the pin. J Wisner

This is not in any way a solution to your problem but when I saw the Woodsdman heading I just had to add. About 20 years ago I bought a Colt Woodsman from a gent older than me + his pistol was from his father. It was in pristine condition in the original box + a letter from Colt dated 1927 that it had been upgraded to accept the new 22 L.R. ammo. He was asking $700.00 + I never even stalled. The sad part of this tale is that all my guns (well almost all) went to liquidation for the divorce settlement. I sold a lot of them quick + well below market value to the Cabela's rep in Buda. Funny thing; I never saw any of those guns for sale on their sales section. Fine Arms or not. Never mistake motion for action.
