I own a model 70 .270WSM I am going to rebarrel to 6.5WSM.

It shoots so-so and is very finicky to what you feed it with. I was going to trade it but eventually I decided to have some fun with it.

I was thingking of building a high mountain lightweight rifle and I need your help on what is the lightest 24" barrel possible without compromising safety.

The data I would need would be the lenth of the barrel shank and different barrel diameters at different points along its legth.

Thanks in advance.

Montero-

I think mine is a #3 Hart which was finished at 24 inches.

May the wind be in your face and the sun at your back.

you can go with the absolute smallest contour and maker will make and still be fine. Lilja was making the smallest contours I knew of and calling it the #0 or something. Not sure if they still make it.

Otherwise you could pay a person to turn down a #1 contour to your desired dimensions.
