Hey guys, just wondering what ways you are using the leftovers from your stock blanks. I am guessing when a blank is sent to be turned they do a cut first of the extra, probably would be willing to return it to me too. I can figure the whole knife handle and pistol grip thing, what else are you using the wood for? I was thinking if I got enough pieces saved up that were long enough a cutting board would be nice. But is walnut suitable for that? Red

Red, I made skibum a knife with the scales out of the same wood from his stock. You can also get pen kits and easily turn very nice looking pens and pencils. I do not know if walnut is suitable for cutting boards.

Yes, Chic it can make a really nice cutting board. I have one as a gift from a woodworker friend that is alternating 1" walnut/maple strips edge glued. Nice looking. "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

I GAVE SOME CLARO TO A FRIEND WHO MADE ME A CHANGE BOX FOR MY DRESSER. NICE JOB TOO. ALSO HAVE GIVEN A BUNCH TO SOME KNIFEMAKERS AND LATELY TO A CLIENT WHO DOES HOBBY WORK WITH IT. THE DAMN BOX OF EXTRA HAD BEEN SITTING IN THE SHOP FOR OVER A YEAR. Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild
