Timing a Winchester 73 action

I'm currently building a Winchester 73 out of a box of parts including a Uberti cartridge carrier.

My problem is timing the action so that it will run smoothly..........I'm going to shoot Western action with it and it needs to run smooth and fast.

The bolt is interfering with the cartridge carrier. I know you need to bend/tune the carrier arm but was looking for intel from anyone who has done the job or any articles that may describe the process.

The bend and try method is getting tiresome.

Stop bending and try filing on the part of the the lifter arm which the lever pushes on to make the carrier rise; that will delay the carrier rising until the bolt retracts more. Done many of them; short stroke kits. they leave extra metal on the lifter arm to allow for this fitting. Filing.
