do any of you know if the Pins that hold the trigger to the reciver on a Rem 700 are keyed?

I'm trying to figure out if they are key or if I just peen mine over....

Any tips on reattaching the Rem 700 tirgger to the receiver would be helpful. Seems you need 4 hands.

They are NOT keyed and you don't need to peen anything. You need a couple of slave pins to hold the assembly together while you attach it to the receiver. These are pins of the same diameter as the originals, only shorter, equal to the width of the housing. With the right handed gun upside down and in a padded vice, the pointy ends of the pins enter from the right as you view it in it's upside down position. Opposite for left handed guns. Install the front (shorter) pin first, then the bolt stop gear and the rear pin. Be sure to engage the safety lever to allow the slave pin to exit the rear hole. Hopefully you paid attention to the position of the bolt stop and spring. Good luck.

The Rem 700 pins are 1/8" diameter. Go down to your local Ace Hardware and buy a 12" piece of their 1/8" drill rod. Make yourself several slave pins and also a couple of pins an inch and a half or two inches long. They slave pins are used as indicated above and the long ones can be used to hold everything together when you are working on the trigger (now you'll only need 3 hands Smiler.

While you're at it make yourself a few extra regular length pins.

You'll need a dremel cut=off wheel or a bench grinder because the drill rod is hard.
