Montana Rifle Co. Bottom metal
Hi all,

Has anyone got information or comments on MRC one piece unit for a model 70 winchester classic?

Cheers,
Mark.

Are you asking if the MRC bottom metal will fit the Win 70?

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

It will, but you might as well use the williams unit as they are basicly the same. Williams now has them with the release in the guard and they are a nice set up

Yeah Snowwolfe, it will fit as it's marked for this model rifle. Just manufactured by MRC.

idahoelk101, maybe the MRC one is available and the Williams one not. I have a Williams one already and I'm happy with it. Williams no longer will import to Aussie for me that's all.

Thanks,
Mark.

Mark,

Are you looking to buy MRC bottom metal? I have an action with Bob de Vries in Melbourne and we're replacing the bottom metal with another unit. It's a long action, Chrome Moly.

PM me if interested. I'll haven't thought about selling this so I have no idea what a good price is.

cheers,

I didnt realize they were interchangeable.
Will any bottom metal made for the Win 70 fit the MRC?

Not sure on that Snowwolfe, Midway has bottom metal listed as a assembly to FIT winchester post '64 actions.

Thanks StuC, but I'm after a s/steel version. I may just have to ask around some dealers in Australia to see if someone can get me a williams piece.

Cheers,
Mark.

MRC and Matt Williams both post here...

IIRC, Williams was to make the bottom metal for the MRC (which is a clone of the m70) but MRC made a choice to go with a multi piece and then (rivited or welded, i can't remember) joined together to look like a one piece, because it was VERY cheap

if you have a m70 and the mrc is the same length, then winchester, mrc, or williams bottom metal can fit it.

imho, the williams is the superior piece. Is a bottom metal considered a gun piece? if so, do you have to import it from a maker, or a person?

jeffe, I had one from Williams posted to me last year direct. Seems some problems have appeared with regards to posting parts outside the U.S. which is a shame as the strong Aussie $ means that some of these things are priced quite reasonable if we buy them direct. If we have to use a dealer locally then this adds greatly to the cost!!

Mark.

Ok, I am trying to get this straight in my mind because I own several MRC's

I can purchase Sunny Hill bottom metal for them and it will fit?
Will it require any stock modifications?
