Need a magazine for my 1895 project that will fit 7.62x54R. I have the mag for 30-40 Krag but the gunsmith says it won't work. Anybody know where I can get one and if from the U.S. can it be shipped to Canada. Thanks..Bob

Go to Winchesters website and look in their parts manuals. They have a full breakdown for all the new production 1895's. It's possible the magazine for the 270 might work or you atleast might be able to modify it to work. The part number will be in the manual. They're out on Winchester's website in PDF format. You also have the 405 magazine to choose from. Don't know if that'll be any better though, but atleast it's designed for a rimmed cartridge.

Check with Western Gun Parts here in Edmonton, Alberta (780-489-5711). He handles a lot of Winchester obsolete parts, and might have a rimmed cartridge magazine. You should be able to make one for a 303 (fairly common here) or a 30-40 work. - Dan
