376 steyr in a pistol?
Okay.. i have a savage striker pistol in 708.. a 375 barrel, and the 376 reamer and headspace gages.....

and too much time on my hands...

wonder what that would be like with a 14" barrel, NO brake

Vicious.

Although, I thought the same thing with an XP-100 action I've got laying around.

There's an article somewhere out here on the net about an Encore in 376...I believe the word they used to describe the recoil was "brisk".

YEOWCH!

It's bad enough in a 9 lb rifle.

I don't think they make ear muffs good enough for me to be on the range when you shoot that!

I'd like to see a picture of the muzzle flash in twilight though...

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

I think you should do it!

Don't know about a 14" barrel with no brake though........my 338-06 Ackley Competitor is a handfun even with a brake!

guys, come one.. i've shot 45/70 (405 at 1400+) in a contender... lots of flip, but not too bad..

and remember, the striker isn't a flyweight (5.5# in factory trim) .. that about 32# of recoil.. vs 51 for the 45/70 in a far lighter gun...

hmmmm

i might just call bauska and have a barrel in the way.. i'll just turn down some steyr rims (so I can keep it 708 if it's a knuckle buster) for testing

wtf...
savage wouldn't tell me shank and thread on the striker... the CSR said "1/16 on long, 1/8 on short".. i asked about 10 times what does "1/16 and 1/8 relate too, as that's not a rational dimension"

"that;s all the info we provide"

so i searched their gunsmithing site

"Barrel Shank Sizes

The shank diameter on Savage's standard calibers is 1.055" The Savage rifles chambered in Remington Ultra Mag and Winchester Short Magnum have a larger shank diameter. These measure 1.120" The outside of the barrel nut is the same diameter on both the standard calibers and the Ultra Mag - WSM calibers. All barrels are threaded 20 threads per inch. Note: Some of the first Ultra Mag and WSM rifles were made with the smaller diameter shank. The larger diameter shank barrels will have a step in front of the barrel nut. "
