I have a Springfield Stevens double 12 gauge shotgun. I need a forearm for it, but the gun has no model number, so I can't ID it. Can anybody help. Here is pic:

If its a Stevens its a 311, but COULD by the wildest imagination be a 5100. If it has a bird dog engraved on the receiver it is probably a 5100. Hope this helps.

Look in the lower left hand corner on the right side of the receiver. That's where the model # usually is.

I have 2 of them. mine are both 5100s. They dont have serial numbers.

Do you need the metal part too? make your own.

Or its probably the same as a savage 311 if you need the metal.

I don't even know what the metal part looks like. I do know that the gun will not cock or fire without the forend unless you manually press the cocking mechanism.

Look at Numrich gun parts, Stevens then 5100 or savage then 311

There is a parts diagram of all the parts. Both look the same.

They might or might not have your parts . You can see what you need though.

Actually Sears sold under the name "JC Higgins."

This looks like an Eastern Arms Co. 101.7 which was made for Sears by Stevens. It was somewhat the forerunner to the Stevens 311. As also noted, the lower left of the right side of the receiver should be marked with 5100.

speaking of serial #'s before the gun control act of '68 manufactures where not required to put serial #'s on the gun. I found this out cause I happened to write down all the serial #'s of mine and my dads guns when I was a kid, the guns where all stolen and because I had written them down we caught the guys and recovered all but an old Stevens 12 ga with a poly choke, I hadn't written a # down for it and I later found it they didn't come with them, the thing that sucks is I have never shot a shotgun even close to as well as I did that old stevens

Some more information. The gun has the number 11 inside a circle in front of the trigger guard and a number 14 inside a circle in front of where the gun pivots. Here is a picture of the gun where it is serial numbered.
