I recently bought a marked down "exhibition" stock from GAG. I called to verify it was still available and to discuss the condition. During the conversation, I was told little to no new turning is being done; that since the fire he is selling off inventory in the form of old turned stocks and remianing blanks.

Unfortunately, most of the semi-inlets left are either bad mistakes or seconds. The one I bought was badly misrepresented over the phone. It wasn't a great deal of money and I sensed so much desperation during the call that I've decided to make it work somehow. But never again.

"Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

I got a nice stock from Richards Micro-Fit awhile back for a very decent price and nice wood.

DPM,

The answer on the bottom metal is, maybe. I used a 96 stock on my Mexican, and the Mexican bottom metal had gaps at the back near the trigger guard. It fit, but wasn't right.

That said, the stock had previously been fit to a 96, so the inletting for the bottom metal was done. On a new semi-inlet, there might be enough wood to fill the gap.

Otherwise, model 96 bottom metal will work with a little fitting.
