I have been given several Remington 700 take off barrels. What is involved in fitting these to 98 actions? Is there another action on which these would be practical (not fond of 700's)? Tomato stakes?
Thanks

Hello,
Whole different shank, thread, pitch, style, etc. Not worth the effort. Remington barrels are not all that bad, and usually deliver better accuracy "off the shelf.." than most. What calibers are they??

They can be rethreaded to fit small ring 98's. Guys are rebarreling Turk 98's with the rethreaded take offs, resulting in what some refer to as a "Turkington". Sporter Express sells them (the barrels) threaded and short chamberd for around $100.
